Struggling & You Don’t Even Know It?

“The rage just overcomes me. Like, from out of nowhere. But I’m fine”

How easy do you find it to rest? To take some time out and refuel the tank? Express how you’re feeling and lessen the emotional rollercoasters.

I see and support women who have fought their greatest battles through their early years, but because they're unaware of the changes needed to support midlife, they ramp up the fight in the belief that they need to prove themselves even more because of their age. This extra fight is simply stress that their body doesn’t have the fuel to maintain and thus, we see the myriad of symptoms that supposedly comes with old age (I don’t believe we age, we mature, like a fine wine) and we simply put up with it all. Some women have pushed so hard at life, they’ve become oblivious to the signs of stress that have started to knock and demand attention.

I believe aging should present more joy and happiness as you relinquish your commitment to parts of your life you’ve outgrown (but letting go can feel incredibly triggering when you believe you have to do it on your own. You don’t, by the way); whether that’s relationships, work, or aspects of your female health. When you know how to move on, change isn’t so jarring.

Midlife is an opportunity to really look at where you’ve been creating more tension than necessary. Perhaps addressing emotional experiences that you were unable to deal with at the time. It’s the perfect time for a full-on female health audit to see what’s triggering ill health and what could be taking you away from living a life of joy. This approach is a great way of preparing for perimenopause and menopause. Because as you’re well away, preparation is the key over cure (which is long, painful, and really frustrating).

Are you experiencing any emotional, hormonal, or physical symptoms right now? Anxiety and overwhelm? Missing periods and bodily pain that just won’t go away? This is a communication that’s telling you something isn’t working. It is NOT your body falling apart, getting it wrong, OR GETTING OLD! You don’t have to put up with any of your symptoms. You don’t have to struggle with life.

You can do an audit yourself by looking at the environments you spend the most time in (home, work, and travel are the easiest to start with) and look at what could be trigging symptom responses. Does your office use lots of air fresheners (these create hormonal responses when inhaled over long periods of time)? Check your makeup, perfume, and wash care to see what’s inside as again, these can create hormonal issues long-term.

I offer female health audits of varying price levels and time availability to support women at midlife through change and beyond. Please get in touch by contacting me on abi@abiadams.co.uk
